On the contrary, most religions teach a moral code. It's explicit, not implicit.

Athiest may act morally, but their need to qualify their lack of belief with a "but I'm still a good person" is what's a little odd.

I didn't read the link, but I always found it remarkable that someone could do evil things like rape and murder, but ask for god's forgiveness on a deathbed, whereupon all the jugdemental fundies will pass the evil dude right onto heaven. Meanwhile, the athiest dies with a lifetime of good works has no chance. That is why I would not be surprised at the outcome of trusting a rapist over an athiest.

That is completely ignorant and very misleading. There are plenty of atheists in foxholes (literal or otherwise). Why would you feel that in order for others to cope with difficult situations they have to agree with you first? Doesn't that seem a bit egocentric to you?

As an atheist, I've thought about people's deathbed conversions. Even assuming all people do it, I don't think it tells you anything about whether we should be religious or not. It tells you that desperate people cling to what they can. I DO NOT mean that people who are religious in their every day lives are desperate. Those people have a faith I do not. I do not denigrate that faith.

I'm agnostic because I still hold onto the hope that maybe there is a higher power, BUT if you truly are an athiest, you do not believe there is anything out there to help you. However, they may hope that medical treatment can cure the person in question.

Religious people can abuse their believes to justify bigotry and cruelty towards others. Atheists can be insensitive towards religious people. I don't think it matters whether the person is religious or not, or what religion they follow. Some people are just bad eggs. I think the key is that you accept that every person has a right to believe what he or she wants, as long as it doesn't interfere with you.

No one man wrote it and I'm not sure why skin color matters - likely given it was quite a collection of people, they were of varying skin colors.
