If you're in South Arlington, it might be worth moving to certain areas of Fairfax. But I wouldn't move to Fairfax from North Arlington, personally. The schools in North Arlington are almost uniformly great.

I can certainly understand why someone would take a longer commute and Fairfax schools over the areas of North/Central Arlington that feed into Washington-Lee.

Wow, so the crazy Yorktown booster has been stalking DCUM for years. I'm guessing this is a SAHP who's kids are in high school and needs some kind of validation?

I'm guessing you don't realize there are multiple DCUM posters who would pass on W-L and its IB program in favor of other schools. Doesn't make us all the "crazy Yorktown booster."

You are responding to a 2 1/2 year old post.

Nice try? I believe you may have limited capacity to see trends and change across time. The county is not the same as it was 10 to 20 years ago, and much projected change is forecast for the next 10 to 20 years. Wakefield just had its highest number of inductees into National Honor Society. That is a change. A seemingly minor change, unless you are open-minded and forward thinking. Open minded enough to realize this is the beginning of a pattern. Forward thinking enough to recognize how patterns can extend.

Don't they say how they calculate their ratings somehow? are they relevant measures?

They are based on state-wide standardized tests, so it probably means Fairfax students do better on SOLs.

Why does Zillow think my house is worth $100,000 more than it really is?

You don't know the algorithims used by these online ranking sites. They're simply not trustworthy, even as a casual barometer.
