A grande non fat chai with two pumps of flavor is between 200-230 calories, and has a lot of calcium and a bit of protein. Better than a candy bar, and more satistying as it takes a while to bring. Also getting some benefits from the chai tea.
Either way, it's figured into my daily calories. I typically get it as a midmorning or midafternoon snack to go along with fruit, and I don't get it every day. I'm at a healthy weight, eat healthy, and am active. Really, it's good to be aware of these things but most responsible adults will be okay.
230 calories is a wee bit shy of a snickers bar which also has 4 grams of protein. That is a lot for a single beverage.
Still not bad for a snack, and a lot less fat than a candy bar, and no trans fat, and ingredients you can recognize and pronounce. Nutrition is more than just calories.
Really? The woman who is advocating getting "two pumps of flavor" is also getting on her high horse about "ingredients you can recognize and pronounce?" Lady, you have lost your damn mind. I agree having a treat isn't a bad thing, but don't delude yourself into thinking you're channeling Michael Pollan when your enjoying your "pumps of flavor."
I eat candy bars every once in a while too. It's okay, really. I run and do yoga, I'm a working mom with a naturally fast metabolism at this stage in my life. I burn a lot of calories just getting through the day and though I generally follow the 90/10 rule of healthy eating, now is not the time in my life when I'm needing to count calories. I don't think two pumps of syrup now and then is going to give me "the sugars."
If you don't like Starbucks, or are watching your weight, just start your own thread and don't ruin this one! Buzzkill.

So if you get four pumps of flavor in a drink, you are taking in between 80 and 240 calories, just for the flavoring. That's a candy bar.

I tried that today OP and I LOVED IT!!! I told the guy at Starbucks that someone had tried that by accident and said it was really good... he told me that with "dulce de lech" is really good too.
Anyway, I ordered a small, skinny chai latte with two pumps of pumpkin flavor... What was the calories of that? I ALWAYS order skinny iced vanilla late. I don't even know what is a chai latte actually, but it was very good today!

If you were truly concerned about strangers' dirty fingers leaving "germs" in/on your food, you would not eat in restaurants.
