Vikins is so 2011. Check out a Capital Culinarian. Kicks the shit out of any Wolf or Viking. We looked for months, cooked on all three and went with the Capital. I love my 36". It rocks.

My husband and I purchased a Monogram GE-ZDP30n4h 30" dual fuel, 4 burner SC convection oven. It has to be the worst purchased we have ever made in our entire life. It hurts so much more because we paid close to 4,000.00 dollars for this piece of crap. From the very beginning this item was a lemon: the light switch when out within the first three months, all the knobs became loose which cause the burners to turn bye themselves if someone bumps into them. I’ve own it five years and I am presently looking at a $1400.00 repair bill. We may just take a hit and buy a Viking instead of repairing this money pit.

I got here searching for "advantium" because I need a new microwave and my Blue Star 36" gas range has an oven that's so huge it takes forever to preheat (even though it does have cool features) so I want a second oven if the microwave can serve that purpose. Anyway, we got the Blue Star range six months ago after my foodie husband researched the topic about as relentlessly and thoroughly as anyone possibly could. The consensus seems to be that the Blue Star has the best possible cook surface performance. DH firmly believes that everyone who cooks needs one. And as the non-foodie spouse who cooks 5 days a week, I'm liking it fine (although the open burners do get dirty, I just figure the germs burn away...).

6 burner 36" Garland industrial. I love it, but I cook a lot and often. A typical residential or "semi-pro" stove (like Viking) was out of the question because of the demands I place on my equipment. I use the oven as a warming oven and have a double convection wall oven for the more important stuff. I didn't really like the oven in the Garland because it didn't circulate evenly.

Obviously in the minority here but I have a 36" Viking dual fuel range and I LOVE it. I love to cook but am not super sophisticated. I do use the simmer a lot and have no complaints. DH and i both bake and love the electric oven. We got a great deal on it and have had zero problems in three years.

We have a GE Monogram double over from 1993 and it is still perfect! We have replaced everything else in the kitchen, but it is still there- white doors and all bc I am afraid to get rid of it.

I have a new kitchen with GE monogram cooktop 36" and a bosch 800 series single oven (under counter) and a ge advantium 240V 30" as a second oven. I didn't want to get a 36" range because it seemed to be a waste to have this huge oven. 30" is plenty big. I love the bosch oven. Works perfectly. The cooktop is fine - no issues and very hot burners and solid build. The advantium is a microwave and a speed oven. Does all sorts of things but is expensive. Not sure I've mastered it yet.

GE is a solid brand. It does not, however, have the cachet of something like Viking, Wolf or Thermador if you happen to care about that or if you plan on selling your house any time soon. You also may want to check Consumer Reports. I may be mistaken, but I don't think the recent models got great ratings (I could be totally wrong here).

Interesting. I'ved lived in two houses with Sub-Zeros and have NEVER had a problem. I currently have a Sub Zero wine fridge (full-size) and I love it. My fridge is a GE Monogram and I've had lots of problems with it. Cheap plastic door shelves keep cracking as they can't hold the weight of jam jars!! Freezer keeps snowing and forming icicles.

The benefit of a Sub Zero is that the freezer and fridge areas have separate compressors - so if you open the fridge door, you don't lose coldness out of the freezer like you do on all other makes. But they do cost a ridiculous amount of money!
