I know. Recently I have read the following untruths:

Liberal media didn't report Obama's smoking (and yet they did)

Liberal DCUM does not talk about Obama's popularity (and yet we have long posts about liberal dissatisfaction with Obama on the same page)

Liberals did not protest the execution of Lawrence Russell Brewer (and yet they did)

LIberals are hypocrites for not criticizing Obama's killing of the American in Yemen (and yet we did)

Then from the same poster, we have:
Bachmann is presidential.
Romney's unbeatable.
Perry is unbeatable.
Hermann Cain!

Warning. Point out that Obama is a smoker is racist and is in violation of the media responsibility policy. Please report to your local hope and change center for reeducation.

Who is erasing history? Like last week, when Eugene Robinson compared Christie's issue to Obama's smoking. Did you just erase that from the history books, or is Eugene Robinson now prejudiced against his own race?

He wouldn't be the first one who is.

Unfortunately, that "after" photo now needs its own after photo.

And he'd be completely invisible except when being ridiculed for being fat and unattractive for his spouse.

Anonymous wrote:OK, what do you all think about Eugene Robinson's column in today's Post discussing Chris Christie's weight? I am a HUGE fan of Rboinson's, and usually agree with everything he says, AND I'm also very concerned about obesity in the country. In fact you could say I'm a little fat phobic. BUT, I think Robinson was way off base here. Everyone can see Christie is fat. And you can draw your own conclusions about what that says or doesn't say about his discipline, habits, health, etc. But I just think the column was unnecessary and a little mean -- and Robinson strikes me as a very nice person.

Obama is so skinny he looks anorexic but Robinson isn't talking about this. Brainpower and experience tips the scale in favor of Christie. Pun intended.

Everyone has their personal challenges, and the social ethic is normally to have compassion when someone is dealing with, say, addiction, marital troubles, ADHD, etc. Or at least to keep their mouth shut when they don't have something nice to say. But when someone is fat, the insults just fly. It seems to be the last group we unabashedly make fun of. Why is that?

Because fat people themselves don't know how to keep their "mouths shut."

What came of his recent hospital visit? Was it just an asthma attack?

Did Ross Perot get elected President?

Ross Perot's paranoia kept him being elected and he took votes away from B. H.W. Bush. How I wish Bill Clinton could be president again.

Ah, right. Because the "liberal media" didn't report on his occasional smoking.

You know, I'm beginning to understand why right-wing rubes consider the media to be "liberal". They occasionally cover topics like "weather", "economy", or "the Oscars". Fox News and the various other propaganda outlets that target the low-information reactionary voter try not to cover any of that stuff unless they can tie it back into the meta-narrative: how the liberal conspiracy is out to get middle-class white people.

Once you spend years watching that crap, I'm sure it's tempting to watch the centrist, balanced news media and shriek, "Why are they hiding The Truth!?!" Must be the same dynamic with nutjobs who believe a UFO invasion is imminent. The aliens must have already taken over the "lamestream media", otherwise they wouldn't be suppressing the important whackjob conspiracy nonsense I crave.

Oh, one last thing: personally, I've got nothing against obese politcians, and if Christie weren't a disingenuous greasy piece of shit, I might consider voting for him. I actually really liked Jerry Nadler. But putting my preferences aside for a moment, Christie is unelectable. Why you ask? Because for all the talk that weight-prejudice is some sort of "upper middle-class elite" thing, low-information voters of all socio-economic classes abhor grossly obese figures in the public realm. Turn on a soap opera. Watch any Hollywood movie. How many people as fat as Christie do you see in the role of "leader"? And I'm not talking about a healthy plutocratic gut--Christie makes Chris Farley look like Antonio Banderas.

Perry may be an ignorant backwoods racist, but Christie's got a serious FUPA problem. Which makes his election by America's rube-ocracy vanishingly unlikely.
