Over the years, with little kids at home I have used - homemade cleaner of distilled water, alcohol and essential oil of choice, microfiber cloth with a bit of dish soap and very hot water (instahot dispenser) and never had an issue with streaks, and now I use Puracy, a cleaner I found on amazon. You can get refills and dilute the concentrate yourself.

My sister and her DH own a marble and granite company and she always uses Clorox or Lysol wipes on all her granite. Of course he can reseal his whenever needed or buff out any damage. The only thing they won’t allow around their countertops is acetone.

I just use damp microfiber cloths on mine. Cheap and easy. I don’t live near them so I have to deal with my own maintenance or I might be a little more nonchalant about it all.

A wet sponge. Cleaning spray with bleach once a week.

It's never occurred to me to use anything else, and we've been doing this for ten years. The countertop wasn't new when we moved in, either.

But if it spoils the granite, I wouldn't be sad. I hate granite countertops. I'd rather have old-fashioned laminate. Much easier to keep clean.

Best homemade granite cleaner I have been using 2 years:
I take an old windex bottle or any spray bottle and fill it ~2/3 full of water then I add 70% alcohol almost to the top then 1 squirt of dish liquid. The alcohol sanitizes and also gets any film left by the detergent off the granite and it cleans. I use it all the time because granite seems to hide what is really on it. Usually just a wet cloth, a half drop of sals suds in a spray bottle if I’m feeling spicy.

That's what my husband uses! I use Scrubbing bubbles grease cleaner then wipe if off with water. My granite still looks new 10 years later- no resealing. I'm too lazy.

Hot water followed by Clorox Anywhere to make it shiny and disinfect.

I just use a little dishsoap on a sponge. It's just marketing making you think you need to buy a specific product for granite.

Something very important to note. Dish detergent is actually quite bad for stone. Most of them contain chelating agents, which are used to "soften" the water and make the detergent work more effectively. BUT the chelating agents will also attack stone. Best to use a stone specific cleaner, or a quality microfiber cloth and water.

I use PLEDGE Multisurface Cleaner in the spray bottle. Does a great job, leaves a shine and smells great.

I use vinegar too. I have the added problem of having black granite - so impossible to find anything that doesnt streak or dull black granite. Vinegar and windex are the only things that leave it shiny.

What is involved in resealing granite? Can i buy it in a store and doit myself or do i need to have someone do it? Is it okay to clean with vinegar and just reseal every few years?
