Yes, this thread actually makes me want to go out and buy more capri pants so I can wear them all the time.

I'm tall (5'8"), athletic and 39 and look fine in capris. I didn't wear them for years because I hated the idea of too-short pants (I got stuck in too-short hand=me-down pants a lot as a tall kid) but then found some cool athletic-looking Nike and Eddie Bauer capris that are great for the days when it's too cool for shorts.

Agree they don't look good. Used to swear I'd never wear them. And yet I've succumbed. It was the uber-hot weather when I lived further south that did me in. Because capris are cooler than pants. And while shorts are even cooler, hot sun + car leather + bare skin = ouch. Capri pants were long enough to let me get in my car and sit down comfortably.

So what should I wear this summer? Pants are too hot, my legs are not good enough for shorts and skirts aren't really practical with little kids.

And I would not care one bit. I would think, wow - I bet she is way more comfortable than I am in my "stupid" shoes. Honestly, if you were my friend, I wouldn't care if you showed up wearing a burlap sack. And if you weren't my friend, or someone I thought I could be friends with, I wouldn't invite you to my party.

Oh my goodness - this group is so judgemental. I don't believe the OP had everyone's best interests at heart when she posted this. If her sensibilities are offended by the majority of middle-aged women's choice in attire, then maybe she is the one who needs the attitude change, and not the rest of the world who needs the wardrobe change. Is it possible for us to get more superficial?

If you feel lovely or cute or sporty in the capris, please wear the capris.

I'm middle aged and somewhat overweight. Capri pants look no worse on me than anything else. It's a low bar...

Okay then. For your sake, I will confess that I look like a troll and my face makes small children and elderly people cry. I also have an ugly soul.

My newly-declared ugliness (both inside and out) still does not mean that capri pants are flattering.

How about the baggy ones with the little tie at the bottom. Thank you OP for posting I absolutely hate capris. I think they should be illegal. DCUM is the only place where I ever heard that women should not wear shorts. This must just be a capri loving bunch.
