Wow, I’m surprised because we all have sensitive skin and I soak things in oxiclean or a generic sodium percarbonate all the time and haven’t had a problem.

It’s important to remember that “oxiclean” is a brand name, but sodium percarbonate is an ingredient. They can put “oxiclean” on anything, including scented detergents with a bunch of other ingredients. I’d be surprised if all these reactions were caused by sodium percarbonate. So if you have this reaction to “oxiclean” detergent you might still be okay with the plain powder as a non-chlorine bleach.

Yes, when I opened the OXYClean pouch of packets, it smelled awfully strong but decided to use one packet. After the cycle of wash & rinse, I opened the washer top lid & my eyes began to water, got a headache & became nauseated. Still have headache & am putting clothes through a hot water wash without any detergent to see if I can get rid of the odor. Have never had a reaction to any detergent before this episode.

I have really sensitive skin and use oxiclean all the time, but only the “free and clear” powdered kind. That’s just sodium percarbonate. It could definitely irritate your skin in high concentrations.

Anything liquid or scented might be labeled “oxiclean” but it’s something else.

Thank you. I had a bad inflamed rash, spots, welts and thought it was my medicine. Very itchy, but now it makes sense that it was the oxi-clean. it was on my hands, and places where my clothes get tight, I hand cleaned my table cloth and rewashed it, but still have itchy spots on my elbows where I rested them on the table cloth.
Yes, it is a great product, but from now on anything I spot clean, I will re-wash by itself and not add other clothes to the mix. Thank you for solving my rash and hive issue.

I used it and wash my white clothes the rash cover 4 days ago i wait to late i was eat up with the rash i wouldnt want no one to get this when to dr got shots some meds its been 2 days ago still hurts and and bad all over. They told me never to wait go as soon as you can go to the dr im suffering now. I hope it goes so i can get relive very bad reash thank you all god blaess

My arms and upper back have been itching and burning for weeks. Then I remembered I usedoxyclean on my bedding. Now I find this information. I will keep you posted as to if my skin gets better after regular detergent and 2 rinses. I have no rash but sometimes my skin feels like it's on fire.

Ugghhh I am yet another victim! Just started using OxiClean a few days ago I watched every single piece of clothes that I own and all of my bedding... amateur move now I am breaking out in rashes and itching all over!. Though my skin typically isn't sensitive at all!

No, never. And I have been using it on my boys clothes for years.

I always use it as a presoak, though and then drain and wash with Tide. I don’t add it to the washing machine cycle.

Just spent five days in hospital for a total body rash caused by oxyiclean. Didn’t realize that I had bought detergent that contained it. After insisting to doctor that I hadn’t changed any detergent, the only thing they could come up with was a bad reaction to some medication I was taking. Boy was I wrong. After I got home I realized my mistake and quit using the detergent immediately.

I have a skin rash it appeared yesterday when we used oxiclean instead of our usual detergent it started with itchy eyes then when I came home my face was red I thought it would leave in the morning yet it's still there I used aloe vera but it hasn't helped much

I had an extreme reaction to oxiclean. I have washed my towels in the laundry twice and I still get a get ichy all over my body. I may have to throw them out. I am looking into wholistic laundry detergents, I'd rather wash my clothes on a washboard then go thru the hell of the last three days. Can't sleep, i have to wash three times a day because the towels came into contact with my bed, some bedsheets.

I tried washing the clothes 15 times with my free and clear liquid laundry soap and vinegar, couldn't get rid of the chemical (everything is cotton). My face and neck swelled up horribly yesterday. I'm gargling with salt water and am going to the store to get organic dandelion root to help get this chemical out of my body. While I didn't wear anything with the chemical on it, I was breathing in the fumes after every wash load to see if the product washed out - it didn't. I finally threw all the clothes away. One person on the internet suggested washing a load or two with just baking soda, no vinegar or laundry soap which I did with a couple loads that I was concerned may have touched the contaminated clothes.

PP here. I didn't realize that oxy comes in different 'flavors' that are scented or whatever. I'd never buy that sort of stuff because my kids would react to it in a second. We haven't had any issues with 'unflavored' oxyclean though...
