Subject: Living in DC and sending young kids to Lycee Rochambeau in (north) Bethesda: logistical nightmare?
The school isn’t that far, OP. You can take Canal Road to Clara Barton Pkwy, River Rd. to Seven Locks Rd. Right turn on Bradley Blvd. My kids went to another nearby school. I work in Georgetown. Lycee has bus service too.

Hmm. The earliest dropoff at Rollingwood is 8am, and even then it takes me at least 35 min to the Farragut area.
They open the doors at 745/750 in my experience. Are you taking Connecticut Ave? If you take Beach Ave, I don't get off of RCP until I'm near the Kennedy Center. 35 mins after leaving, I'm parked and at my desk.
I forgot to add...I hop off and back onto RCP off of Mass Ave/Embassy Row.

Ok, did not know that they open the doors that early (first year there). That’s a game-changer.
Yep. The doors open as soon as the first school bus arrives (one of the DC routes). It becomes the Forest Road shuttle. My office is next to the Kennedy Center, so fortunately, I don't have to bother with downtown DC traffic once I exit the pkwy.

People do it. You may be able to carpool or just use that time in the car to talk and catch up with kids. Sometimes my kids like to relax in the car as they are on the go so much.

Curious, what makes you feel it’s overrated?
Because the educational methods in France are a little old-fashioned, and are based on the student adapting to the teacher, and not the teacher adapting to the student, as modern educational thought recommends. Rochambeau mostly has good teachers, trained in France. If your child is bright and compliant, they will thrive. If your child has an atypical learning profile, or any special needs, etc, they will not. The American approach is more child-centric and much more knowledgeable about child development and how to positively manage certain behaviors.
Academically, the upside to the French system is that it produces much better writers. The downside is that there is less emphasis on oral expression and team -work - those are very American things.
