Strollers stored inside at all times? Likewise Cozy Coupes, scooters, sidewalk chalk, random dump trucks, carefully curated piles of sticks and pinecones? Any irregular valentines and/or cut-paper snowflakes taped to your windows? What about sunshades, "baby on board" signs, and the fine layer of cheerios and raisins in your car?
THANK GOD you spend 20 minutes each night carefully erasing any evidence that a kid lives in your house. Otherwise, who knows...

Lol. Really loud. And ditto
I feel the same way. Safety issues aside. It's just plain TACKY. I saw this post the other day and I'm glad I'm not the only one that was thinking this. I wonder if OP makes her friends look at weekly belly pics on FB as well and wears a 'BABY' (w/arrow pointing down t-shirt) all through her pregnancy.
So t-shirts with an arrow and "Baby" on the front are tacky?!! Crap.
Shirts with words on them are low class generally.

I am a well educated professional who is very excited to welcome her first child and also the daughter of a police officer who takes all reasonable security and safety precautions that are warranted. I do not feel it will be a huge risk to announce to my neighbors at the end of my culdesac that the baby, which they are fully aware of, has arrived. I know I am not the only person who is interested in having a welcome baby lawn sign and I was simply trying to help other avoid unnecessary expense when I'm sure we are all trying to manage the cost of having a baby as best as we can.
Honestly I almost never post anything on this site and have never totally understood why there is a stigma around DC that this site is full of women who are extremely judgemental and think themselves superior on all topics but actually being the one at the receiving end of the attacks I must say I'm starting to get it. I truly hope you will not be teaching your children to be so rude hiding behind a computer screen so they grow up to bully mine and other innocent kids. Seriously, if this was not something that interested you, why reply.
To the poster who mentioned that putting the name and date stats out there might not be a good idea, at least this had some basis and thought that I agree was helpful. I don't think its all that difficult to acquire someone's name and birth date information publicly but I understand your concern.
As for the rest of you good luck with your babies. I hope you are truly as joyful at their birth as we are going to be.

Anonymous wrote:You all are crazy. So you think baby kidnappers drive around looking for stork signs? I have no words for you.
OP, I think it's s cute idea. Thanks for sharing.
Anonymous wrote:Please don't do that!
It's not safe!
Like we don't leave our doors open why announce that there's a new baby in the house?
Not only baby kidnappers but opportunity thieves breaking into cars, etc.
If baby kidnapping was so rare why do you think hospitals would have such specific protocol and high tech material to watch and track every baby born there until the last minute before discharge?
