i was introduced to boa thru fleet bank which was bought by them in 2004. they were good initially however over last few years it has become a money sucking dumpster. they have nothing to offer, sloppy interest rates, sloppy customer service who do not know how to fix a manmade problem, it seems like they have been ripped off of all their powers or may be they just do not want to do anything. my external bank accounts that are linked to their billpay got locked because they could not be verified. the system wont allow me to add new bank accounts. I called them but their verdict was 'there is nothing we can do about this issue'. over last few years I have gone from a preferred advantage customer to an online free checking account, that I hardly ever use. I had several creditcards with them but I stopped using all, including Upromise. there were far more greener financial institutions in the race so why drain your resources over a barren piece of land. with their sloppiness I would be surprised to see them living in next few years

I've been a BofA customer for many years and have been happy with their service. I do not pay any extra charges for anything, due to the balances in my accounts, and their online bill pay is great. I also must say that I received excellent customer service last month, when I needed to sit down with a representative about one of my accounts; I chalk the extra attention to the fact that so many customers left them over the debit card issue. My only complaint is that the bank is so crowded when I acually have to go in it that it takes forever.

I had Wachovia and was satisfied. After Wells Fargo took over I left because of the changes they made, particularly the online billpay changes, as others have mentioned. It is now a horrible bank IMO if you want to pay bills online.

2012 UPDATE to Wachovia Customers: Unfortunately Wells Fargo has completely discarded the great Wachovia Bill Pay System. Now payments take from 3 days to 5 (that's right, FIVE) days frim SEND Payment date. Over a weekend with a Banking Holiday = Forget it ! UNACCEPTABLE.

I've tried most of the big banks billpay services. (Wells Fargo, Citibank, B of A) They're so-so. Recently I added a Scottrade bank account to my Scottrade investment account which I have had for many years. It's outstanding. Not only do they have a very good billpay system but they also allow interbank transfers from your other bank accounts which is something that many banks don't allow. Also, it's easy to move money back and forth between your investment and bank accounts. Free checks too.

Another very satisfied PNC person. Easy and fast online bill pay but what sold me was the drive thru teller. I deposit many checks for our neighborhood group but when you have 3 in carseats, you hate to get out to do anything!

I was VERY happy with Wachovia's bill pay, but when they went to Wells Fargo bill pay, it now is the worst thing I ever seen. So do not go to Wells Fargo if you want nice bill pay.

USAA by far. No complaints - and I banked with them while overseas (2006-2010). They are outstanding.

I have Chase (no banks here, yet), PNC, and a credit union, BFSFCU. The think I like about Chase bill pay is that once I issue a check, the $ disappears from my checking account, so it's easy to keep track of what I have and what I don't. Esp. when issuing checks to employees, vendors, family gifts, etc where people don't always deposit the check right away. I like PNC bill pay and with corporate bills and places that accept e-checks, payments go through quickly.

Another vote for USAA.

I was ok with Chevy Chase but when Cap One bought them, I moved to PNC. My acct with PNC is free and I get all of my foreign atm fees reimbursed (at least at the moment) due to the offer through my employer. Their online bill pay is super easy and their android app is easy as well. I haven't signed up for Virtual Wallet but am interested.

DH has BofA but he only pays the mortgage vs me paying the remaining household bills to various companies so while he's happy with BofA currently, it may be a matter of time.

Hi all - I am also a victim of Wells Fargo after being a Wachovia customer since 1988. Wells Fargo's entire process is just bad workflow compared to Wachovia, which allowed you payment options right from the eBill. The most inexcusable glaring omission is that pending payments do not appear in my Quicken register, only completed payments.

Really poor, they should have kept the Wachovia systems instead of the poor Wells Fargo functionality.

Rarely, if ever, use their counter service so I can't comment on that but LOVE their online banking and haven't been charged any fees for anything that I can recall. I'm really surprised to hear that that many people don't like them? What am I missing?

Overall the bank has issues and will put holds on large deposits -you have to be careful with them but I agree with you - the online bill pay is AAA+. I've used it for over 10 years and love it. It has every feature you could ever ask for and I have never had a problem with customer service though the online bill pay system is so good there is very little chance there will be any reason to call customer service about it. I HIGHLY recommend B. of A. online bill pay!

I've used B. of A. for over 10 years and watched it evolve into a fabulous, easy to use system. It has every feature you could ask for including next day pay to 100's of other financial institutions. It has extensive eBill features and auto pays. Really, it could not be any better unless it read you mind. Those giving it bad reviews must have used it long ago before it evolved to what it is now. You can also add in display of credit card accounts. I tried 2 other online pay systems with other banks after we moved to an area with no B. of A. ATMs but rejected them because they were kiddie versions of what B. of A. offers. The bank itself has issues but the bill pay is a gem. The one or two times I had to call customer service went fine as well.

I use both BB&T and Capital One and am very happy with both. I've never paid a fee or had a problem with payments.
