Agree with a PP, Hill is hilarious but I don't think he's there enough to only see him.

Really did not have a favorable impression of Peterson at all. My appointments with him have been totally perfuctory and my last one, he totally did not mention the fact that I had been hospitalized twice since my last appointment and I had actually spoken to him on the phone from the hospital!!!! Unbelievable.

One appointment, he barely made eye contact and I think he was out of there in 3 minutes. Crazy. Fortunately I am a second time mom and don't have that many questions but still.

I really like the Nurse Practioner, Sharon Frish (?). I don't know if it's because she's a NP and not an OB but she is more thorough and there's more follow-through with her.

My other favorites are Mungman, Engel with this caveat I find that Engel sometimes you need to prod to provide additional information. He also told me there was no reason to do the 12w scan/blood test (don't remember what it was called) and Verify since Verify is more accurate. I opted to do both anyway. He is also a big proponent of genetic testing.

Dr. Engel is great.

I cannot recommend Osmun. He was very patronizing and dismissive when he delivered (barely caught, that is) my second child. In brief, he ignored me when I told him about my personal and family history of precipitous deliveries and sent me home. Fortunately I listened to my body and returned quickly - DC was 5 minutes away from being born in the Sibley lobby.

A month later, I consulted with him about probable mastitis (including a severely clogged duct and 103 fever), but because I also had an unusual rash, he said there was no way I could have mastitis. A few weeks later, with the duct still clogged, I went back to see an NP, who immediately sent me for an ultrasound. Long story short, I had a MRSA-infected breast abscess that required emergency surgery.

Love dr engel.

Dr. Osmun is fantastic. Dr. Johnson is also awesome.

Dr Hill delivered my daughter 4 years ago. It was my first time seeing him at delivery and he was great, very patient and super nice

+1. She delivered my DD C-section-planned in 2005. She seemed cool-with her expensive high heels. Had an IUD inserted after 6 weeks. Starting bleeding a year later-spotting every day--Loveland blew it off completely after testing. Saw another doctor-Radecki in the practice. She didn't blow it off-she got another test done. Came back with same result-IUD in place. Went to a 3rd gyn in Columbia, MD. Turns out the IUD was in my vaginal canal-YES-scar tissue developed and a new IUD couldn't be inserted. Had my tubes tied by Dr. in Columbia. Saw Johnson once after that-can't remember why though-I told Johnson about the whole IUD fiasco.

Reiter Hill Johnson worst practice ever. Had same experience as OP. Stay away from McKanders. She is incompetent and unresponsive.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Peterson! He is new to DC and the practice but very experienced in OBGYN. I have met all but two of the doctors at RHJN and he is my favorite, although I also really like Drs Osmun and Johnson. I second the above poster's observations about Dr Peterson -- he is patient and kind, attentive and listens to the patient's questions and concerns. He supported me for the first 24 hours of a very long and difficult natural labor - I was induced at 41w and although he suspected ahead of time that a c-section would be necessary for a number of reasons (and ended up being right!) at no point in my labor did he (or anyone else for that matter) push pain medication or other interventions, and I never felt rushed or pressured to do anything. Although the c-section was not what I had planned for, looking back I can't find any point in my labor when I wish we would have delayed an intervention, intervened sooner or tried something different. I am very happy with the experience overall and while I wish I could have had my son vaginally, I am 100% certain that was not possible. As a FTM, I had major reservations about the practice going into my pregnancy for all the reasons others have mentioned in this thread and others, but I honestly had the best experience with Dr Peterson and RHJN, far better than I could have imagined, and have so much confidence in the practice overall.

Dr. Loveland delivered my first child a few years ago and recently met with me at the office after a bad u/s and then took care of my D&C after confirming a miscarriage. She spent a lot of time with me (I was a freaking mess) and I couldn't ask for better care. My labor with my daughter was very long and painful (third degree tear oh hooray!) and she was AMAZING in getting me through it. Just another opinion...

Engle, without question. I saw him when he was at Foxhall, and even thought about following him one month out from my due date. Everyone I know who goes to RH likes him best when they start rotating drs. He is smart, kind, funny, and the husbands love him too. I was never into having a male OB/GYN, but he totally changed my POV.

No one has mentioned Dr. Hill! He's still my favorite, although working less now, I think. He is kind, interested, funny and the most experienced OB/ GYN in the city, with the compassion, wisdom and judgment that comes with that. If I had any sort of emergency, he is the one I would want to have with me.

I second Engel and Nevin. Both were very supportive and warm after each of my miscarriages. Sartawi I agree is not. You can tell she is still very green. She handled my second loss and she was almost more of a wreck than me- seemed like it was her first time telling someone they were miscarrying and she def needs some work! I have friends who rave about Johnson.

And I will never, ever see Reiter. He icks me out.

We had Dr. Peterson for our delivery. I know women have reservations sometimes about having a man as an OB, but he was excellent. He sat with us during most of the pushing and was very encouraging. I also saw him during several pre-natal visits and he was so kind and easy to talk to. I would recommend him to anyone.
