Why do all of you just insist on polluting this website with all of your California bullshit!? Your state has 50 million people, surely you can find another website that is actually focused on you?
Second, with this student‘s GPA there is zero chance they are getting into William and Mary and it is highly unlikely they will get into Virginia Tech as well. They need to look at other schools in Virginia, but fortunately there are many good ones.
I know an OOS kid who had all Bs in sophomore year who is heading to VT in the Fall in a hard STEM major. Don't believe this.

Anonymous wrote:Thanks everyone for your comments. Really appreciate it. DC says he will work hard next year and would try get As. DC is smart but not focused. I will be happy if DC gets into instate schools bW&M & VT

I don’t think this is true anymore unless you are FGLI Hispanic.
UCs require a C or higher in A-G classes regardless of demographic. If the C- was in one of the classes that meets the A-G then no UC will take them.

OP, are the grades weighted or unweighted? Could he retake the C- course this summer in an accredited community college? He doesn’t have to retake the exact course especially if he has gotten As in the next courses in the series but if he takes a course in the A-G category where he got the C- then that would go further with UC.

From our school, this Shouldn’t be a problem for a non-Ivy T20. Vandy, WashU, Chicago.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Again, why are you focused on a particular ranking? work on the kid's preferences, their strengths and weaknesses and focus on schools that will be good fits. There is definitely a good school for that kid and the way to find it is to focus on your kid, not rankings.
My kids both attend(ed) schools outside the T50 and are doing terrific.
Because she wants her kids to go to a top ranked school.
Just because your kids worked out in a non top 50 school doesn’t mean everyone will.
I think OP kids will be fine as long as other items are okay.
