low for Emory? lol how do you know that when well over 30% don't even submit scores and are below the reported medians. Stop the nonsense.
Emorys median is 1510, 1470 is good for GU. Because so many submit at Emory the median is set and wont change when they go TO. Also a 1470 is lower than Emorys median when they were TR. GU is a gpa school, Emory prefers higher test scores.

For government. A wash on business. But for everything else, Emory is the better comprehensive school.
For whatever reason, Georgetown doesn't really do science, tech, engineering, cs and so on. Plus Georgetown is much more a rich kid school these days. It's limiting.
is this why most would pick georgetown over emory?
McDonough (GU) is a very well regarded business school in the Northeast. Great placements. If you want to work in NYC, DC, Boston, etc much better
Not much better. More like a wash in NYC. You can't go wromng with either. What does your kid like? I do not think they are alike at all in terms of culture.

What are they planning to study?
He's undecided by either business or CS. Or a mix of both for quant.

Anyway, all EA to Georgetown gets you is two bites at the apple, Georgetown makes sure to keep acceptance rate the same between EA and RD. It's going to be a very tough year for Georgetown acceptance given this is their first year on the common app. Expect already low acceptance rate to plummet.
ED2 at Emory doesn't provide much of an advantage, but ED1 has close to a 30 percent aceeptance rate.
If one is going on strategy alone, the easy choice is to ED1 Emory. Probably three to four times liklihood of acceptance of Georgetown EA.
Emory and Georgetown are sister schools really. At least when it comes to campus culture and student body. Emory is Georgetown for minorities.
No, they are not.
At Georgetown, everyone submits a standardized test score.
At Emory, half go test optional.
Only 32% are TO at Emory, but what does that have to do with student culture?
More than 40% enrolled freshmen did not submit a standardized test score. The ACT and SAT submission rate are double counted if one submit both, which historically 15% do.
No that's not how that works, schools only take/report the highest score for any student. Its called score choice. And you made that 15% up out of thin air. Emory had 68% of all students report test scores in 2025. The percent submitting is likely even higher this recent cycle and will be even higher than that, this upcoming cycle.
