The last I heard, there was no way official way to denounce a UK citizenship. Sure, you could let your UK passport expire and swear on a bible to never go there again, but if you changed your mind 20 years later, you could always apply for a new passport as you are always a UK citizen.

So, are UK people technically subjects of the Crown rather than citizens?

WOW, how amazing. But just so you know, when you say stuff like that, people who can trace their ancestors back a thousand years or more are laughing at you.

Honestly curious who can trace their ancestors back that far? Are you Danish royalty?

Sure. Don’t disagree. But the American experiment is on the cusp of complete failure. So it’s reasonable for families that have optionality to maintain choices. I pursued passports for my kids. If everything goes to hell, I’d like them to have exit options. And we’re dancing pretty close to that edge. Always good to have a plan B when your country is insane.

There are other ways to get citizenship than through family ties.

what qualified you for more than one?

If you are a Canadian and have a tribal id or documentation that one parent is native, then according to the Jay treaty of 1794 you have a right to enter the US and work and no one can legally stop you from applying for assistance.
As a native you cannot be foreign on US soil and have a right to in state tuition at US colleges.
You simply apply for a social security card. If you want the green card then you can apply for that too and get it in about 2 months.
In Canada you can also enter any state park without paying an entrance fee.
I am not sure if the same applies to state parks in the US

We all have US and EU. I just submitted for Canada along with my kids. I had been working on it before they loosened the rules.

We do own property in EU but other than that I use my EU passport to skip lines into and out of Europe.

Are you jealous or something?

A bit of advice from an immigrant. I learned how to speak and write English as soon as I came to the US. It might benefit you to learn how to properly speak the only language you know, and not use words that do not exist when you're communicating.

Eh. Arbitrary political borders don’t mean much to most people unless soccer is involved.

I have a relative who travels to various Middle East countries and uses her EU passport for those instances.

I have two. They are easy and uncontroverted proof of my citizenship for both countries. I only travel with the US one, though.

Plus it lets me pass ad a min American at a time when much of the world looks down on us. It also gives my immediate family rights to accompany me. Why wouldn’t someone do it if they’re eligible? To be an American only these days is to be a stooge.
