I travel 2-3 times a month for work. I have 3 options for getting to the airport that my company will pay for: drive and park, Uber or someone takes me and is paid for milage round trip. Ubers can be challenging to get where we are out in the PA country. It is over an hour to an airport. I usually drive. Probably 2x a year I Uber and maybe 5x a year my husband will take/pick me up. This only happens for 3 reasons. 1. He is going that way for something else so it makes sense financially, car problems at the last minute when no Uber is available or he will pick me up if I have a red eye after a long day and it isn't safe for me to drive.

He doesn't mind the drive and we enjoy the time together.

Never. He pays for special parking and leaves his car. I guess the only exception in the last couple of years was a long, personal International trip and he got in close to midnight. I picked him up that time because I don't like late night Ubers that are having to travel a distance on highways.

NP here but as a DW who frequently travels I would never want much less expect my DH to drop off/pick me up from the airport for a work trip. It’s a waste of his time and just comes across as a little clingy/codependent.

Do you think it’s equally nice for the “friend” who you are asking to drive twice the distance there and back from the airport and then sit around waiting just so that you don’t have to sit in a car with a stranger?

In the age of uber, asking someone to pick you up from the airport is basically the height of selfishness.

DH travels weekly for work and I have never picked him up from the airport. Ever. I’m too busy taking care of the kids/dogs/house to even think about getting him.

Just a few days ago at 6am I happily drove my wife to the airport. She finds her own way home.

+1. We live 2 blocks from a metro station. I'm not asking my husband to pick me up, and I'd rather get a little walking in after sitting forever in a plane so don't choose to take an uber.

I travel about that often and I usually just drive to the airport and park. If work is paying for it, I park in the closest lot and I find that much easier than Uber or having DH pick me up.

This. I travel more often than my wife, and when we travel for business, we *never* give each other rides. That would be absurd. If personal travel, and it's convenient for the one not traveling, we'll give each other a ride to save the $60 or so uber fare. But we've often taken ubers on our own dime, too.
