I have a rising 5th grader, so does that mean they should not consider the hassle of goig to MS magnet school if they get selected for math magnet or humanities magnet because it is not worth it starting in fall 2027?

How could this board tell you if something in fall 2027 is going to be worth it when they don’t even know what the programs will be like.

No one can predict the future exactly, but I believe they have started previewing some of the magnet curriculum changes so if people here have seen that, that would be helpful to that PP (although good luck to them hoping someone in that narrow group of people notices their question buried here in this only slightly related thread.)

But it will probably be even more helpful to wait until the fall once they actually start implementing the new 6th grade magnet English curriculum and ask questions then...

Magnet always meant travel to another school for a program. MCPS used to be amazing "gifted" programs.

Now magnet is only travel to another school for a program. Amazing no longer guaranteed with magnets.
