A HS buddy was held back, repeated 11th grade, simply because he was youngest in the class. Did not change school. Did not have social issues either. FWIW, at that school each grade was about 50 boys and about 50 girls.

You can switch to boarding school and redo 10th there his first year there. It isn’t unusual for your reasons and it gives him a year to settle in before the rigor or 11th begins.

^^ OP, print your kid's transcript and evaluate it to MAKE SURE IT MEETS NCAA requirements before entering senior year or your teen may be ineligible!
