Ocean City area but ONLY in off season, like February.

I did not find Deep Creek all that great.

For Deep Creek you have to do one of the following:
1. Camp and use the public beach--it really is a nice campground at the state park
2. Go with someone who has an amazing house and just enjoy hanging out there
3. Spend a good part of time AROUND Deep Creek--at Swallow Falls, WISP, Falling Water, Garrett Co. Fair when it is in town, Frostburg

Have you been to Cape Charles Beach on the bay? Really shallow and gentle, barely there waves. A great place just to stand around and chill in the water. You can park at the town beach and swim. There is no lifeguard--you don't really need one, but I know that's still a deal breaker for some people. ITs about a 4 hour drive from DC, so we've gone down early, enjoyed the beach. (A couple and one child). There are several cute shops and galleries. A good bookstore. A good seafood place on the water called The Shanty. Stayed at the Baywood Bed and Breakfast. Went to Kiptopeke state park early the next day, which is really pretty. Drove home early afternoon. A great trip.

The Dobbin House in Gettysburg has excellent food and great decor, with the staff in period costume.
Wonderful experience if you are even a little bit of a history buff.

We did a weekend in Gettysburg. Saw the battlefield and amazing cyclorama, and we also visited Catoctin Mtn Park, Monocacy Battlefield, and I think Gambrill State Park.
