Something similar happened to me early in my career. A secretary who was always very nice to me worked for a manager who coordinated compensation, and she showed me a spreadsheet with everyone's bonuses. I was one of only a small number of people who didn't get one. (These were around $30K-$50K, and this was about 20 years ago). I did very high quality work and constantly got put on high-profile matters, but sensed that for whatever reason, I was not well liked on a personal level. The other people who didn't get bonuses were not on comparably significant assignments. I found another job easily and left, and I have no regrets about doing so.
