Not true. First year is not at McIntire, as everyone knows - you apply from first year into the undergrad program - it's not direct admit. So the first year is $42,104. If you get into McIntire, year 2 is only $43,256. second and third years are $55K. which is still a great deal compared to privates which, like my SLAC, have surpassed $100K.

Premed at UVA is pretty cutthroat, not sure about UNC. If your kid is tippy top, probably doesn't matter, but otherwise, it's a slog.
I think it's challenging at all schools, but not sure UVA is cutthroat. DD'S roommate's boyfriend, rising 3rd yr, is pre-med and arranged group study sessions for Org Chem. Students share notes and seem to support each other - at least his class. OP, both schools are great options.Congrats to your DC.
