3 ECNL clubs in my area and all 3 are not telling anyone what teams they are on until after ECNL rosters are due for to prevent players from leaving before nationals.

No--this is specific to Aug-Dec birthdays and I find it useful. If you don't --go away and read other threads.

Also useful for me to see real examples of how clubs are handling the change.

U16 on a GA team, club is asking her and all other fall birthdays to repeat the year. She has offers from two ECNL clubs both with better track records of college placement that we are weighing.

U11 boy with an August bday but in 5th grade (was not held back).

Currently on fourth team. Staying at U11 on 3rd team.

U13 December repeating U13

I don't view it as "forced" though. My kid is thrilled. We were happy when we saw this change was coming and anticipated the repeat year. Will have school-age friends on the team finally.

Some kids really are out there playing soccer because it's fun and they like hanging out with their friends and they want to have a good time. It's not that serious folks.

This board is a real eye opener.
