What if the genders were reversed would everyone still be ok with this scenario? I doubt it. This situation as described crossed a red line.

Don't you see why we are uptight? There are all.these pedos walking around not being prosecuted.

This mom probably wanted to make sure those two boys got clean, but she should watch out before doing this with anyone else.

I would have called the other parent and asked what they wanted to do - pick up for shower, or let them shower alone in my house.

I would've expected her to call you and ask what you should do. I would call her and tell her that if something like that happens again, you prefer your son to shower alone; that he does this independently at home.

I wouldn’t bathe my kid’s friends but I also wouldn’t assume something untoward if a mother did it.

We were very overprotective and knew all my kid’s friends’ families very well. I envision a scenario where they were absolutely disgusting (mud in their hair? Eww) and she wanted to make sure there wasn’t mud in their ear canals, etc. and they got fully clean. I would be embarrassed to send a kid home filthy from a playdate. She may have been embarrassed that they got so dirty as it looks like poor supervision on her part.

My 8yo can't shower independently due to some delays and I still wouldn't wash another person's child like that. It is not age appropriate for a typically developing child and the risk of it being perceived wrong or being embarrassing to the child is too high. If they said they need help I would verbally coach them through it through a closed door. If they go home a little muddy and have to take another bath there, then oh well.
