Personally I would love to get a massage and maybe spend the afternoon browsing bookstores etc and come home to a clean house and a cooked meal.

Dh woke up this am and realized it was Mother’s Day, apologized because forgot and he has to work all day, and I have to take a kid to urgent care, return things and get groceries for the week. I am willing to bet neither kid (both teens) have done much, bit at the end of the day dh will run out and buy flowers and chocolate I do not want to eat so they feel like they have something to give me.

I honestly normally don’t care but it’s my first Mother’s Day without my mom, and I am feeling more emotional than usual.

A gift card is so stupid to give to your own wife if you share finances.
It just becomes another chore to spend it or lose the money... when she can just go spend it herself.

I always told my DH not to buy me anything for Mother's Day as I am not his mother.

I am of the belief that most adults pretty much buy for themselves what they want in life.

Though if your wife loves handbags, shoes or jewelry I think these make lovely gifts. 🎁

But what makes a wonderful gift 💝 would be a gift of experience.
Creating a beautiful memory w/your family is something very sacred and will last much longer than any material possession will.
