If I felt it was unreasonable I would ask questions - but still, in my generation at least, unfollowing is a minor thing and I'd do it without much push back unless there were major extenuating circumstances. For example a business relationship important for my company or a close friend for years.

NO
but my spouse would not ask me to do this.

I think the point here is what if the request was unreasonable, like what if your wife requested you unfriend or unfollow someone based on something they said at a party. Not to her, just something she overheard them say. That's the example OP is talking about -- an unreasonable request. Would you just give in to keep the peace or would you push back on the unreasonability of the request. It's actually kind of interesting to think about.

It's easy to say "well my spouse wouldn't make an unreasonable request" but the point is that sometimes people do make unreasonable requests like this.

If your spouse had an argument with someone or strongly objected to something they posted or said, would you unfriend a mutual friend you two share simply because they asked you to?

I ask because a coworker of mine today talked, ad nauseum, about a fight she had with her DH over his refusal to unfriend a contact they both had over comments the guy made about the recent election in VA.

If my husband asked me to unfollow someone on social media I would probably divorce him. How old are you?

Looks like you are already divorced or getting there soon. lol

Nope, happily married. Social media is stupid and someone asking someone else to unfollow someone is beyond childish. I wouldn't be married to such a loser.

Yes I would. I’m MAGA and I broke up with my bf who was too woke. I would have no problems unfollowing people over politics. I wouldn’t even wait for my spouse to request it.
