Actually most small colleges like SLACS only have the varsity type team who are recruited athletes. DD’s SLAC has no club team for fun. But possibly other small colleges do?

My doctor husband never played golf. We're were poor he was unfortunately not a golfer. Our sons never played. I think it has hurt them in social situations.

Our son and his friends started playing junior year, when they lived off campus and had a shared house. I cannot imagine having golf clubs in a dorm room- they take up too much space
