And that’s okay if you two are okay with it. No one talks nonstop for 30+ years.

Been together 30 years, married 28+. He talks about his work a lot & isn’t always great about asking about my work (def Adhd/spectrumy). But, we also talk about:

Our respective hobbies
Our kids
Our friends
Travel
Books we’re reading
Shows we’re watching together or separately
Our families
Sometimes I share things I read here. He never would have know about the Banfield murder w/o me sharing the details

We’re both introverts with busy social lives so we both decompress at home and appreciate sitting together in silence.

Let me guess. On the spectrum? You describe my father, who has always been a challenge but is harder to deal with as he gets older and has more time. I feel really bad for my mom.

Almost at 30 (over 30 if you start from when we became a couple), yes happily, and we talk about every topic under the sun (and beyond the sun too, yea, space!). We have a habit since empty nesting started of sitting down together after the working day is done, unplug, quiet music on, and just chatting about anything and everthing for about an hour. It wasn't a planned thing, it just evolved onto our almost daily habit.

We also both work from home, so we have constant chatter about the day as we pass in the kitchen or whatever, as if we were coworkers at the water cooler.

And as a PP said, we are very comfortable in silence together too. Happy quiet moments in the kid-free years.

Also important to be comfortable in silence and in doing your own things.
