Chances are this will be her only baby given her age.

+1. Especially when there was no oops baby after being with her now dead husband for a decade, when she was much more fertile. It ain’t adding up.
It's almost like infertility can sometimes be due to the male in the relationship, not the female. Imagine that.

That is... not at all true. At 40, most women can get pregnant without an intervention. And most of those pregnancies will result in a healthy baby.
I just don't believe it. sorry. I don't know any woman in real life who got "knocked up" in their 40s with her FIRST CHILD with no medical help. All the 40+ year old first time moms I have ever met took meds to make it happen.
Add to this, this woman has been severely underweight (ED?) for 20 years. I would find it more plausible for this to happen to someone who is normal weight.
DP. I was in a first time mom group with my first and there were two women who were 40 that got pregnant first time no ivf.
Yeah this is not rare at all. It’s not that hard for many people to get pregnant naturally in their early 40s, including my mother, my sister, and me. Looking at my family tree it was pretty standard to keep having kids until your early 40s. And I have quite a few friends who have as well. This is weird to me.

It really is not. I was 41 when my first was born. I saw a high-risk MFM OB--not because of my age but because of a prior major abdominal surgery. At one appointment, the provider had a printed sheet of who they would see that day with ages listed. I was the oldest by quite a bit and I asked how my risk compared with those of others seen in the same clinic. The OB said "You are the lowest-risk person we're seeing here today."
I hope that's made up because otherwise that's a huge violation of patient privacy.
