So entirely short sighted, but not shocked these days.

What is *not* cool about four humans doing a lap around the moon for the first time in over 50 years, going further from earth than any human has gone before. First woman to the moon, first black man to the moon, first Canadian to the moon. First time a toilet has left low earth orbit, lol.
If you're too cynical to enjoy this, I feel bad for you.
DP. It's called the SLS for Senate Launch System, not Shuttle Launch System. We built it from reusable Shuttle engines, but ensure that they are not reused so Huntsville AL remains employed.

Some of us care and do not think it's dumb.
China is currently scheduled for 2030, we're schedule for 2028. This mission going smoothly is a big advantage. China has never sent humans within the moon's orbit before, and 2030 will be their first time. They have a lot less margin for error and far less institutional knowledge. Maybe we'll get unlucky and they'll get lucky, but right now, we have the advantage.

Why can't focus on both? Why can't we use this mission to recognize what is *good* about humanity and see what we can accomplish together? Why not look at these astronauts, who are smart, professional, respectful, and collaborative, and thing collectively about the kinds of people we want in positions of authority and leadership?
