DH vetoed Micah.

He said it was too Jewish.

DH is Jewish, but I am not.

It still bugs me that I didn’t push back.

I vetoed Karen. This was before it became an insult. My daughters are grateful.

I wanted Camilla (Cami) or Elena.

I have our lists of names written down in a notebook (which will be nice to show our kids when they get older). DH vetoed Cameron, Christopher, Damien, Devin, and Kieran for boys. He vetoed Isabel, Scarlett, and Stella for girls. I still prefer those names over our kids’ actual names that we landed on. This compromise thing is hard!

I vetoed Andrew, Caleb, Dennis, Ethan, Gavin, Jack, Joshua, Levi, Nathan, Sidney, and William for boys and Delaney, Elizabeth, Emery, Kamille (yes, he wanted to spell it with a K), Layla, Lily, and Skylar for girls.

My husband vetoed "David" because it was the name of his mom's estranged brother (I knew he had an uncle who had been to prison and disappeared but I didn't actually know his name).

He vetoed Arabella, Mabel, Marguerite, and Daisy. I vetoed Forrest, Galen, Rose and Summer. We ended up with compromises that resulted in names both down to earth and princessy all in one.

Dh vetoed Laura, Natalie, Lydia, Caroline, Catherine, Lara, Lila, Olivia, and so many others. I vetoed Abigail. For boys I vetoed “Larson” (family surname).

Really? You knew SEVERAL families who opted for the trashy extra letter?

Marigold
Ruby
Olive

Ian
Jack (family name)

He wanted more normal names for girls and we knew a few boys with these names already.

My coworker has a granddaughter Claudia and I just love that name

My DH also rejected Claudia.

I am lucky in that my DH didn't have strong opinions on names and pretty much went along with what I wanted. So I'll share some on my list that we didn't use:

Damon
Nathan
Calvin

Diana
Gemma

My husband vetoed Seth. The name the kid got really suits him better so that’s fine.
