Derek but if you at all feel that people suit their names, I would go for something else. The Derek's I know all have a lot of issues. Nice guys but really feel and carry the damage they experience. I know 3. I do believe people seem like their names and that there often is common attributes in people who share a name.

I vote Derek. I love the name. Strong and masculine.

I like names that have multiple common spellings. It makes it harder for people that barely know you to find you online (which is a good thing in this day and age).

I think we’re talking about an unborn baby. “Online” may not exist how it does in 40 years when he’s your age.

Their 2026 baby will be a teenager and adult a lot sooner than 40 years from now. There will probably be even more ways to track people down by name in 13+ years from now. That makes it an even better idea to use a baby name that has multiple variant spellings. Most people appreciate a sense of anonymity/privacy.

Honestly do you know any Derek’s who like their name? It’s a pretty bad name. I’m assuming it’s not a family name if you don’t know how to spell it?

Don’t lead OP astray with that dull name. John is the name equivalent of the color beige.

+ 100

There are 1000s of names! And about 25 of them fit the same description. So Unless it’s a family name or some other reason you lost the bet, Please don’t name your kid John in 2026.

Derrick is where you get oil.

Agreed. I work on oil and gas.

Derek is the only one that’s not misspelled.
