Send them a warm note congratulating them on their engagement. Save your gift money for the shower and wedding gifts.

Any ideas of something to send as an engagement gift? They are not registered and I asked my brother what they might like and he had no ideas.

You are being extra. Ask yourself why?

Depends on the state but check if a total wine near them will deliver, or gift card to one

Send flowers and call it a day!

Stuff is out. Don't assume what someone's taste is. If you want them to get something for their home, just give a gift card and let them pick it out. If you so food, maybe something like fruit (not chopped fruit which can harbor bacteria). If you know they have a favorite restaurant a gift card there is nice.

+1
Unless, I am invited to an engagement party with great wine and food.

You can easily buy wine at that price point and quality in the grocery store though.

This is a special occasion. The package of the gift set is really nice.

For a special occasion, you would want the wine to be special. So one bottle of something nice.

Don't get me wrong, I drink wine of the As Ever quality, but Whispering Angel from the grocery store is just as good.
