The water pressure that brings water to your faucet often involves electricity, yes. For example, the pump that brings water up to the water tower in order to get enough momentum to flow to your house. We have water towers in this area.
Also, although I don't think flooding is forecast, storms with flooding can lead to contaminated water so thats why people associate water storage with storms.

I’m about to go grocery shopping but hesitant that stuff may spoil (I have overhead lines that are prone to go out in high winds)… also wondering what I’ll do about work if it’s prolonged.
