Kids applying to Davidson, Holy Cross, and Colgate want the academic/sports pre-Professional vibe. Yes, step down from Williams but the NESCAC is Div 3. Holy Cross was smart to hire a non-Jesuit and they have momentum. HC is in the quiet phase of capital campaign imagine it will be north of a $billion. Colgate is struggling with applications down 3,000 last cycle and freezing cold remote upstate NY is a negstive. Shocked about Davidson’s restrctive religion Presbyterian litmus test.

Rougeau has done a fantastic job at Holy Cross. HC is in a unique positions as the leading Jesuit liberal arts school. Great campus vibe with mix of moderates, conservatives, and liberals. Prime example this years Commencement Speaker is former moderate Republican Gov. and Current NCAA President Charlie Baker. Only 2 LACs have teams in March Madness- HC women vs UMichigan and Furman Men.

Alison Byerly at Carleton seems to be a strong and dedicated leader who goes the extra mile to connect with students.

I’ve also been impressed with interviews I’ve heard with Roth from Wesleyan.
