NP. Both the colleges and the high schools are tight-lipped about this, though there is the obvious example (with evidence) of Tulane.

We are at a large public and my DD was admitted ED to her first choice school (UVA.) She has no desire to go somewhere else. That said, absolutely no one cares or followed up or even would have noticed if she withdrew or not. Some schools just have a portal button to withdraw and it’s easy. VT was harder (according to her) and her first email attempt was either not received or not processed and so she received her EA acceptance from them. She attempted to withdraw again and hopefully it went through because we stopped hearing from them. Her Delaware admit came back in October and they are still mailing us stuff even though she long ago withdrew.

TLDR unless it’s a fancy private/Ivy+ situation I don’t think anyone cares or is paying any attention.

Same! Mine pulled hers immediately. I’m sure she’s curious but she knew what ED meant and so did we.

Same for my DD. She had poured many hours into all those other applications and had a couple EA decisions that were due to come out a week or so after her ED acceptance. She's not necessarily the most scrupulous kid in the world and I was expecting that she'd lobby to stall a little to at least see those results, but the ED acceptance letter included a reminder to withdraw other apps and she chose to do so the same night. In fact, DH and I had to ask her to slow down so that we could at least read the acceptance letter and make sure it was all set first! I was happy that she chose to do the right thing and open her spot up for other kids, and I also think it was healthy for her to move on from trophy hunting and focus on getting excited about her new college. She's at a large public, btw.
