Been at SYC since 2020. I have only seen/heard one racist comment from one SYC player toward another SYC player. The coach dealt with it on the spot (inadequately in my opinion, but still the coach at least corrected it). That player ended up leaving the club within about another month after that. Bad cultural fit. Having observed the parents' behavior, especially the mom's, I actually feel sorry for the kid.

This is 100% true. As a matter of fact, no generalization is ever true because there is always an exception. Always. And when a generalization can appropriately be made about more than one club, it no longer qualifies as a valid generalization. Finally, you can never prove a generalization unless you know every fact (does *every* bird fly south in the winter?), so every generalization is as FALSE as apparently the number 8 (which I’m told is very false).
So let’s agree please, no more generalizations.

To generalize that all SYC players and parents behave this way is simply inaccurate. Every club, even academy, has instances of poor sportsmanship, but that does not define an entire organization. SYC also has many respectful players, coaches and parents who represent their teams and the community well. - A SYC Parent

You’re a moron. The fact that a club has and promotes a culture that is more tolerant of on-field aggression and cursing has nothing to do with race. The fact that a club also serves a more Hispanic population than, say, McLean has nothing to do with why they tolerate that kind of behavior. At least in my mind!

I have a kid at a younger age group. I found the SYC boys to be ok, the coach however was screaming inappropriate things on the sideline. I feel like Alexandria boys to be worse as far as sportsmanship. Their coach stood by, said nothing as their kid was issued a red card. As a parent, when you see this behavior, you think to yourself, you don't want your kid on that team. My high level, talented kid, will never try out for your mean spirited team. Other parents are thinking the same thing. And we don't want to be around obnoxious parents.
