I do think there is a certain big club that is really screwing up their process and appears to have people in limbo. If this club is your #1 priority, good luck!

I’m in the quiet realization phase, kid will still ask but not as often as the post tryout “I thought I did good” phase that lasted every day for weeks but pretty sure they even see the writing on the wall. And that wall has disappointment written all over it. It’s the life we chose so we just keep shopping.

Without communication, they don't believe you'll accept an offer for a lower team, and they don't want to delay formation of the lower team while they have a bunch of offers out to kids who will end up accepting offers with 'lower top teams.' For the most part, the players on the second team will get offers for the second team again for the following year, so there are not many gaps to fill.

Usually it is an inside job for a development player who thinks she/he can play with an advanced roster light years ahead. So coach slides them as a result of pressure from a parent, a strong connection or a TD but they end up on the bench. In the DMV, parents don’t let coaches do their job.

Some coaches won't fill up the entire roster. They will save 1-2 spots for the unicorn that comes out of in late august to join the team. Happens every year.
