I think changes can be made up until the race starts if a swimmer is registered for the meet in case a kid is sick, etc

For these meets it is usually when the meet starts and certain events are not seeded until the day of the event. It will be circle seeded for the most part.

The only reason mid-size and smaller teams write down their relay swimmers is because they need to make sure those swimmers attend, especially if they did not qualify for events on the day of the relay. You’ll notice NCAP, RMSC, and Machine never list swimmers. They don’t need to; there are always swimmers present to field a competitive relay.

Do we know what day the heat sheet will be posted?

Specifically, once psych sheets are posted, can a coach change which relay a swimmer is assigned to (e.g. move someone from A to C)? And does the new relay combination need to have its own qualifying time on record, or does the original entry time carry over? Trying to understand the rules before the meet next week. Thanks!

Normally our club will switch relay lineups mid meet if someone puts downs fast time that overtakes someone who had been slotted into the relay. For the 13-14s at the meet, all the free relays are before the free events so those will be largely locked in absent injury or illness. The 200 medley relay is first up on Friday so that one is locked in as well. The 400 medley relay on Saturday could change up depending on the outcome of the 100 fly and 100 breast on Friday.

This. As most clubs will tell swimmers that relays are never locked.

Our club often switches up relays during the meet. Every club is different.

There are no rules that are enforced for relays. The coaches can do whatever they like. Generally, they're going to go with who is on the psych sheet, but they don't have to. There's generally some no shows, so the flexibility is needed.
