In New Jersey we can't pump our own gas so I just let the attendant handle it.

I go to the fancy gas station that has gas gloves and I touch it with gas gloves on.

I am surprised it took to page 3 to make this point. I am not a germaphobe, but for those who are, I mean, what are they using to actually hold the pump if they won't touch the button?!

I use my elbow...this just makes the most sense to me. This way I can grab pump, elbow button, pivot and refuel quickly.

I see everyone using the nozzle, that is awful. Not about germs, but about making others hands have gas on them. I never knew why my hands smelled like gas after being careful until noticing jerks doing this. I still use my hand, but sometimes have a tissue there and definitely use a wet wipe afterwards

Just keep hand sanitizer in your car, the pump is already dirty anyway

Visual for those who may be confused:

Do you use the tip of the pump:

To select this:

Or do you use your hand?

My hand, of course. Using the pump is insane.

I use a knuckle or the heel or side of my hand.

Using the nozzle is horribly rude. I guess you could use the bottom of the handle so at least gas isn't getting on the button.

Hand. Gasoline is highly toxic and highly flammable and I've seen those pumps malfunction, I don't put the nozzle anywhere except in the tank.

The pump handle is obvs as dirty as the button, so the only correct answer is hand.
