Maybe if she runs for at-large again she can replace the guy sued for embezzlement. Clown should have had the decency to resign. They tossed him off the Budget Committee and put him on another committee that always cancels its meetings.
She will never be elected to any office in fairfax county. Ever.
She's more moderate than Schultz was, so she just needs to run for the right seat at the right time. Braddock is tough. Springfield, Sully, and Dranesville have a greater chance of flipping.
Schultz was a long time ago. Republicans are not going to win any of these seats. Trump has killed the Republican party.
Sandy Anderson and Robyn Lady have antagonized a lot of folks in their districts. Both are vulnerable should they run again.
Most people don’t even know who their school board members are. They will vote for whoever is on the blue handout.
The county-wide boundary study got people in Springfield and Dranesville paying more attention.
Anderson was condescending as shit and left people thinking she still wants to redistrict West Springfield. Lady showed up in Great Falls and told people she'd send a kid to Herndon over Langley if she had a choice. Those memories linger.
Those memories do linger. I remember Great Falls trying to goad Lady into saying she would have sent her own kids to Langley over Herndon if she could, and she said she still would have sent them to Herndon. Context matters.
All of this to say, I dislike Lady because she doesn’t seem to realize she has constituents inside the Beltway.
She only represents Herndon and, weirdly, Chantilly (where she used to work, but which is outside her district). She's as vulnerable as any Dranesville official has been in some time.
As for her comments to Great Falls, any elected official with an ounce of savvy would have said it depends on the kid and Herndon might be better for some kids and Langley better for others. Instead, she just said she'd favor sending a kid to Herndon.

Sully would be most probable, which is to say 5% versus .1%.
Dunno. Sandy Anderson and Robyn Lady are despised by quite a few in their districts. Some have resources.
The better route would be a primary challenge. A Republican isn’t going to win anywhere in fairfax county.
Springfield has the lone Republican on the board of supervisors. We could do it again and take out Sandy.
Braddock had a GOP supervisor and a GOP endorsed school board member in the not-too-distant past.
The school board races are non-partisan. There is no primary - just candidates the party chooses to endorse.
The local Democrats opened up the process for endorsing SB candidates in 2023. You didn’t need to be a party member to vote in the endorsement process, simply provide an unenforceable pledge to support the eventual candidate who got the most votes.
That was done in response to the 2019 process, where only FCDC members could vote and Obrar Omeish got a lot of teenagers to join the FCDC as youth members. Many were too young to vote in the general election, but they delivered Omeish the FCDC endorsement over Ilryong Moon, which was a huge embarrassment given his seniority and common sense.
The process still favors people who pay a lot of attention to the endorsement process, so the long-time party loyalists still have a significant advantage. But it’s not as bad as it was.
That is helpful and fascinating. I always wondered how she was able to get onto the board given that she had zero qualifications or common sense.
She’s also an example of a sitting member who appears to have been told by others in the FCDC she shouldn’t run again. Sometimes the FCDC is like a little clique or a private school where kids are “counseled out.”
But the situation with Moon in 2019 was bad. It deeply offended some Asian Democrats. Moon initially was going to run as an independent and the FCDC had to get people like Gerry Connolly to lean on him not to run again. He reluctantly agreed. Not saying there was a quid pro quo but a couple of years later the TJ gym got renamed after him. And then they pushed Omeish out in 2023 and he got elected again.

She was asked about where she would send HER children. That is as “depends on the kid” you could get. She said she would send them to their assigned school, which was Herndon.
Langley families were trying to get her to admit that Langley was the better school, which would have been inappropriate for her to say as an elected official. It was not a good look for them.
Was that the same meeting where Lady said Hispanics have more children?

The candidates are "endorsed" by their respective political committees. The committees are more partisan than the public who vote in primaries.

Not sure if it's the process or the voters, but it says something that a teenage ideologue beat a guy who had successfully done the job before.
