It may be too late for this year but would try and find a time when the cousins will be there. That is the main fun my kids remember about visiting family. Also, this is a busy time for your family and not sure it is that much better for your parents to have everyone there vs. just you? isn't just you even better for them?

Not necessarily. Most of our trips growing up were to visit family. We also did fun things in those areas. And now most of DH’s and my trips are visiting family. But we also do fun things while there, and fun shorter trips with our kids. Only time will tell what our kids do someday.

Savannah is great for vacationing. My parents used to lived there (Skidaway island) and we always found fun things. Do the comedy trolly tour downtown- so fun and engaging for kids.

Oh good grief. If OP is going out of desire/obligation to visit her declining mother and help her father AND now DH is going...
OP should spend all the time with her mother and father, not sightseeing, suck it up.
Kids can visit a couple of times AND sightsee with DH.
