From capital weather gang 2 hours ago.

Clouds thicken today with pockets of wet snow this afternoon. Little accumulation expected, though grassy areas could turn briefly white.

Nothing is going to stick even if it falls.

Capital Weather Gang:

MONDAY-MONDAY EVENING

We're still looking at light snow likely developing tomorrow (Monday) from west to east around 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and continuing at least occasionally until tapering or pausing by about 6 or 7 p.m. The impacts may differ a bit depending on location within the D.C. area:

> Southern half of area (roughly I-66, the Beltway, and Route 50 to the south): Temperatures should be in the mid- to upper 30s, limiting accumulation potential to perhaps a coating mainly on grass.

> Northern half of area (roughly north of I-66, the Beltway, and Route 50): There is some question if it snows much here, or if the snow stays more to southern areas. But if it does snow, a bit colder temperatures (more like mid-30s dropping into low 30s) could result in a bit more accumulation on grass, perhaps up to an inch or so. A little slush on roads and sidewalks also can't be ruled out, especially if untreated.

MONDAY NIGHT-TUESDAY MORNING

We expect precipitation to pick up again around or after midnight, possibly starting as snow again, but fairly quickly changing to sleet and freezing rain that continues into the morning. Colder areas north and west of the Beltway will have the best chance of road impacts and school delays, but it's not the highest confidence forecast.

Precipitation should be plain rain everywhere by late Tuesday morning with temperatures above freezing.
We'll keep you updated tomorrow.

It’s looking very likely

For today? Why?

I’d be more concerned about freezing rain tomorrow morning.

Snow is supposed to start at 1:00 pm.

What didn't age well about this post? While it doesn't look like a major storm for us, there is snow and freezing rain in the forecast. An impact on the school schedule isn't out of the question.

Well for one it says be prepared for another 2 days off.

What makes you certain anything will stick to roads? Please enlighten us.

DP but seeing below freezing temps during the projected snowfall window. Perhaps that is what the PP was talking about.

I bet Monday night stuff gets canceled, but I think rain will clear roads overnight.
