The Bartholin's gland is one of two small glands on each side of the labia minora, just outside of the opening to the vagina.

Well, they're at the opening of the vagina. When I had a Bartholin's cyst, I would have described it as being right next to the vaginal opening.

A biopsy to check
For what?
My guess would be to check for staph? This is OP. I may send her to urgent care tomorrow she said it’s big…she’s at college so has no doctor there
Colleges have doctors.
I know but it’s large and painful and to get in as a new patient could be weeks? Also seems more like a skin issue vs women’s issue?
It’s an infected cyst. It’s not complicated. Urgent care, family med doctor, or the student health clinic could remove it and culture the fluid. This is very routine.
It's weird that they happen regularly on both sides though, isn't it?

It could be Hidradenitis suppurativa. Find a good dermatologist that is familiar with it, not everyone is.
