Glad I tuned in. Biden was eloquent and looked well. Clinton and Jesse were good friends. Clinton seems more fragile than Biden.
CNN Tapper tapped out when Maxine Waters took to the podium to honor Jackson. Imagine that! Zaslav propping up Tapper and Bash🥡🥢

Obama’s speech was incredible. It was almost heartbreaking in its tenor and messaging because it reminds us of how very far we’ve fallen as a nation and as a society. I do wish we could have him back again.

Good to know. So, who does? What’s the process?
Yes, I looked. All I’ve seen so far has been comments about “Congressional leadership” and articles that indicate that “Mike Johnson denied” the Jackson family’s request. As it is, I’m left with the sense that this was a partisan and capricious decision rather than adherence to a particular formula that most Americans and their elected representatives understand and might agree with.
DP. Might be good for you to educate yourself.

The White House directs him.
Wrong.
"Use of the U.S. Capitol Rotunda is controlled by concurrent action of the House and Senate. Any person who has rendered distinguished service to the nation may lie in state if the family so wishes and Congress approves."

And, the published list of those who have lied in State proves the point. It is quite selective.
