I’ve been to NYAC a few times and was very underwhelmed by the club and people I met there. The culture of going to your club in Manhattan doesn’t exist as much. People might belong but it don’t go as routinely as people in other cities do. Especially in the summer.

It depends on the grade. Just like at any school, some grades have more douchebag/cliquey parents than others. There are plenty of nice, normal families, too, but they tend to be working parents who aren't around as much. It seems (like everywhere) that the obnoxious ones make themselves the most visible.

Is this for Collegiate or most of TT and 2T schools?

Collegiate parent here. You can choose to participate as much or as little as you want. More birthday parties in earlier years but they taper off quite quickly.

We don’t really circulate in the social circles much (nor do we care to, kids keep us so busy already) — and it’s fine!

The boys are there for an excellent education (which I believe the school more than provides). The parent stuff is all self-manufactured noise IMO and you can self select out without feeling weird.

Many people belong to Liberty National and/or clubs out east.

In my 20s I loved the Park Avenue Country Club! IYKYK LOL

Country club is more for the suburbs, philanthropy for NY.

But there are clubs in the Hamptons, Quogue, Nantucket and private communities that people belong to.
