They all suck. If you don’t pay attention at the register, you are overpaying most of the time. I never used to pay attention but I have more time on my hands these days. Happens so often - price doesn’t come up as marked, or they accidentally put in 4 lemons instead of 3 etc etc. And half the time when I point out an error, they are slow to respond - like you want me to void this for 0.40? Yes. Yes, I do! It’s never in my favor and Because it happens all the time. Start paying attention. Happens regularly at Wegman and Giant.

In addition I am tired of the price I see at the vegetable section suddenly moving up in price at the register.
I saw $1.79 per pound for tomatoes and when I self checkout it said $3.99 per pound.
Complaining is not working at the store level to the manager.

You were likely looking at the wrong sticker for those tomatoes or you selected the wrong kind at checkout.

And if not, and the sticker was indeed right, you can take your items to customer service and they will give you the sticker price.

Doesn’t matter to me one way or another.

I don’t get it. If the things you routinely buy are at lower prices at Wegman’s, then shop at Wegman’s. Decide for yourself how important factors like convenience, price, and selection are to you. As others have said, recognize that some stores price some items quite low — to attract shoppers who will also buy other stuff.

Personally, I buy different things at different stores based on prices and selection. I like Giant’s store brand aluminum foil and frozen vegetables. They usually have items that other stores near me don’t carry — like frozen squash. Wegman’s has delicious sushi, nicely priced contact lens solution, and great seafood. Trader Joe’s has a wide selection of dried fruit and nuts, great cheeses, and excellent prices for salmon, smoked salmon, and ground turkey. Whole Foods and Rodman’s are regular stops for me, along with more specialized markets. I don’t mind making multiple shopping trips over the course of a few weeks — others might have different priorities.

Sometimes I go there because it’s closer to my house and for quick in and out.

My point is as a supermarket you have to keep your prices very close with your direct competitor specially on basis items like milk, bread and eggs.
Wegmans is not cheaper on everything like their prepaid food is more expensive but the quality is much better.

I agree with that, but the only item cited had been a specific one- Maola milk- not even all milks much less other items. I want to understand if posters are saying many food items are overpriced at Giant, or are we talking one specific milk item that I personally don’t buy anyway.

I gave that example because it is identical brand milk.
Wegmans Half gallon milk is cheaper by more than $1, bag of apples and tangerines are much cheaper.

Why is anyone even shopping at Giant when Wegman's is an option?
