Mctire admit rate is now around 40% and there is a lot of behind the scenes stuff that determines that 40%--it's not just top grades. There are athletes that get in with lower grades, racial and gender balancing, etc. Then they say that business clubs don't matter but they clearly do and admissions to the clubs are all just a massive "who you know" and in many cases have a 2-3% acceptance rate.
Econ at UVA has very good recruitment to Wall Street but you have to be ok with studying econ for 4 years. The major has entirely different classes than McIntire and there isn't anything like marketing. You're studying......economics. Look at the courses for the econ major and see if they're things your kid would be interested in taking.
OP here. This is exactly what he didn’t like about UVA. It just seems like it’s become a brutal rat race for Commerce.

How many times do you need to be told Atlanta kids are really not that different from DC kids in 2026? https://www.terry.uga.edu/for-young-alumni-on-wall-street-every-day-is-a-new-adventure/
It doesn’t have good Wall Street placement, sorry. An article about three kids isn’t an indicator of anything.

I wouldn't use the term exceptionally for around 25%

The kids at UGA just seemed more carefree. They were bubbly and presented well. Strong kids no doubt, but less of an edge. UVA felt like an extension of NOVA when we visited which wasn’t my experience. Don’t get me wrong, selfishly I’d like DS to be closer!
Good grief.

Basically, your kid has a 5th year of all the high school bullshit for UVA.
UGA no surprise has a strong network in Atlanta and the southeast. Not so much on Wall Street and the northeast…though if you network like crazy (and yes…consider a fraternity), not out of the realm.
Not true. There are 26,000 students at UVA. My UVA kid says he never saw his high school friends.
OP, UVA is ranked no 4 for undergrad business. UGA is ranked way down at 29 out of 133. Go to UVA.
This. Especially if interested in Wall Street.
+1
