Many people have been hit and killed by Republican drivers. Statistically, far more than have been killed by “Biden immigrants”. Guess we should smear all Republicans as criminals and deport them, by your logic.

You know what? I've come to realize that Democrats are just as unbearable and holier-than-thou, if not more so, than Republicans. Especially progressives, a group of which I thankfully no longer am part. I'll take a sane conversation with a Republican over a scolding lecture by someone on the left.

Private donations are not a legitimate funding source for federal buildings/activities. Lawsuits we’ll tell if it is considered a legal source. Because as can be seen by current donations - the money coming in is thinly veiled bribes. Don’t want a tariff on your company….donate to the ballroom.
But I would expect private donations will be determined to unlawful for federal activities.
Federal spending is determined by Congress - you know that constitutional thing - power of the purse. And just because current speaker of the house and senate majority leader are not exercising congressional oversight - doesn’t mean that will always be the case.

I voted for Dems in the past and would vote for one again, but not any of the names being tossed around for the next nominee.
So you're ok with the killings in Minneapolis, the measles outbreaks, and building a $300M ballroom while the national debt is spiraling out of control and Americans are struggling to pay for groceries and health insurance?
There is a reason that interfering with a federal operation is a felony; it’s a dangerous practice. FAFO in play.
Measle outbreaks are happening generally around large illegal immigrant populations. Which is why the NIH recommends doing outreach in a “culturally sensitive manner “
The ballroom is being financed through private donors.
Biden allowed millions of people to flood the border, I’m more horrified by that, than what is happening now.
NP but I don’t believe you hold a master’s in STEM. If you did the illegal immigrants would not threaten you. For me, they might be my house cleaners and landscapers. (Probably, I employ the companies but don’t interrogate the employees). Are they somehow your competitors?
I gotta say, of all of the people I know, who have HHIs in upper 6 and lower 7 digits, none are threatened by illegal immigants.
DP, but you appear to be under the impression that people against illegal immigration feel “threatened” by immigrants.
That might be the narrative you’ve been fed, but it isn’t reality. There are valid reasons to oppose illegal and/or mass immigration that don’t involve feeling personally threatened.
And your argument that UMC people shouldn’t care because illegal immigrants are providing housekeeping and landscaping service? Wow.
You know, maybe you’re right. I have enough money and skills that I don’t have to compete with those people for jobs, housing, healthcare, or education, so why should I personally care?

Anonymous wrote:I would still call myself a Republican. I’m all for immigration enforcement, but think it can be done in a much kinder and humane way than Trump is going about it. I do think he’s a dirty old man who likely abused women and kids. I also think he’s going a little crazy with attacking other countries, naming things after himself, and bypassing Congress when he can. I hope there are better candidates on both sides next time. I actually voted 3rd party in the last election, but do lean conservative and would like to see a proper Republican candidate next time. Of course, I have little hope of seeing a good, moral candidate.

My reasons are pretty simple: I don't agree with everything the Trump administration does, but I think the Democrats would be way worse. In particular, the Democrats' handling of the border under Biden was just criminally awful.
All that being said, I am looking forward to 2028 when Trump won't be on the ballot. (Although plenty of Democrats will hate whoever Republicans nominate in 2028 just as much as they hate Trump because they see all Republicans as evil.... it's kind of sad actually.)
