SAES was open Thursday (with delay) and Friday (no delay)

SAES has been open since Thursday despite MCPS being closed.

Archdiocese of Washington Catholic schools are not following the public schools tomorrow for the first time that I can remember.

We revisited this issue at DD’s former school when DH was on the board. No one wanted to deal with the anger of parents if they made the wrong call. They decided to let the public school take the heat.

AHC was open at least today I heard. Neighbor/friend of my kid.

Definitely there are many streets that are impassable for busses and anyone walking to school is going to be on ice or on the road in a lot of places.

The mistake here for everyone was being slow to start the plowing, shoveling, etc. It needed to begin early Sunday. I did it and then kept up with the rest all day Sunday. My driveway and sidewalks are fine. Meanwhile, most others are trying to move the snowcrete unsuccessfully 7 days later...

Our Annapolis area private follows the county for the first day of a weather event and then makes their own decisions after that.

Liability. How do a couple of private school administrators make as informed a decision as a county that is working with the department of transportation who is working with emergency services etc etc? Schools have to decide what risk they can take based on their location and where their students live.

Landon was virtual on Wednesday; they were open on Thursday and Friday of last week.

Holy cross started asynchronous work on Wednesday through Friday. Opened today at normal time. Commute in was fine and campus was ready for arrival and dismissal traffic.

SJC has followed the MoCo closures, but started assigning asynchronous work on Wednesday of last week. They announced yesterday that they plan to open on time tomorrow regardless of the MCPS decision.

Stone Ridge was virtual last Tuesday and Wednesday. In person Thursday and Friday with two hour delays. Today was a full day.

The facilities crew deserve a ton of credit for making it happen. And the SR admin team is pretty quick to say they are not following MCPS. Thank goodness.

I'm no fan of Elrich, but Clara Barton is maintained by NPS not MCDOT. Some other roads in the area (for example, River Road, where lanes do abruptly end) are maintained by MDSHA, not MCDOT, since it's a state road.

Our private has been open since Thursday. The building services staff apparently stayed at the school overnight to get all the clearing done, and did a great job. They had an assembly the first day back at school and had kids from each grade come up and say how they appreciated the service staff. I hope they got a nice bonus too, they deserve it.

makes zero sense why any local private with its own governing board would follow any county ruling. utter incompetence. Too many of these schools are run by morons, lazy and are way overpaid.

Gonzaga when our son went there, followed MCPS, which made little sense as they had kids from all around the beltway attending.
