I guess if she is super pious the charisma of all the other colleges, general cultural ambiance might be lost on her. But Foggy Bottom isn't very charming and Georgetown isn't even Newbury Street.
I took summer courses at BC before grad school vbecausecI had never taken economics. I was so jealous of the campus atmosphere.
Wut?
Georgetown isn’t in Foggy Bottom and BC isn’t on Newbury St.

Her first choice is ND, but she was deferred. So that might not be on the table.
Her second choice was always BC, but that was when she wasn't even thinking about Georgetown because she didn't expect to get in so early. Now that she has been admitted, she will need to make a choice assuming she is accepted to BC. FWIW, she also got into Villanova, Fordham, PC, and others.
DD is very religious and will be very active in the campus ministry among other things. She likes football and school spirit, but sports are not a priority for her. Not a partier at all...doesn't even like alcohol. Will be doing a combination of stem and theology (something like biology or biochem).
Hopefully she will get into ND and all this will be moot, but I hope to get some insights about these two schools in an effort to evaluate the fit. My gut tells me that BC is more of a party school, but I might be missing something.
How did she apply to ND and Georgetown REA. Not allowed. Only state schools.

Do not assume a BC admit, which you are clearly doing. If kid wanted to go to BC, should have applied ED….
OP here. Yes I am assuming BC admit for the purposes of this exercise. No she would never have applied to BC ED because she has ND as her first choice. Why would she apply ED to her second or third choice school? She also had the opportunity to apply ED2, but she prefers to take her chances and wait for a potential good outcome with ND. ED is great for students who have a clear frontrunner. That's not the case here.
That said, the Scoir scattergram for BC in her school is very strong for RD admits for students with her stats so I think the "assumption" in this case is warranted.
No, it is not.
25% of RD were admitted and all applications with stats at or above hers were admitted. So based on these numbers, she has a 100% chance of admission. I say that's warranted!!

Not true and would be degree dependent. And clearly Georgetown is less religious than BC. Really should no longer be consider as abiding by Catholic principles.

Anonymous wrote:Yes, wutter but Georgetown is the only remotely atmospheric part of DC anywhere near the college and then it's a trek to Foggy Bottom to get anywhere else. Or a fun bus. And Foggy Bottom where the only other nearby students are is really soulless.
Newbury Street is a touristy shopping area. So is Georgetown the neighborhood.
